"A Virus-Based Vaccine Delivery Platform for use in Production Animals"
Andrew Mercer is a Professor at University of Otago and has been Director of the Virus Research Unit since 1993. With a PhD in microbiology, Andrew’s research is focused on molecular aspects of virus – host interactions and the exploitation of that knowledge in areas such as the development of new therapeutics and vaccines. His group has a world-wide reputation in parapoxvirus research, the viruses that form the basis of the vaccine delivery system to be discussed, and they are the dominant world group in that field. Their research is supported by contracts with diverse sources including FRST, HRC and local and international industry.
