"Fermentation Scale up & Product Development at IRL"
Jason Ryan completed his undergraduate degree at Griffith University, Australia and then worked for a number of years at Progen Industries specialising in cGMP fermentation. He then joined the Industrial Research limited (IRL BioPharm) as a research fermentation scientist while completing his Masters in the use of adsorption resins for the in situ extraction of small molecule from fermentation broth (Massey University, New Zealand). Currently Jason is the fermentation facility manager at IRL and a doctoral student in the Chemical and Process Engineering department at Canterbury University, Christchurch, New Zealand. His current research involves the development and scale up of various fermentation systems, such as thermophilic bacteria, eciosapentaenoic acid producing marine bacteria, anaerobic bacteria, arachidonic acid producing fungi and autotrophic micro-algae.
