Kannan Subramaniam trained as a physician before switching to a career in the commercial sector.  He has held leadership roles in a variety of settings, from start-up ventures to multinational companies, in the information technology and life sciences sectors. He headed up a joint venture of global pharmaceutical companies (Merck, Glaxo, Lilly & CSL) with the aim to create a price differential for evidence-based pharmaceuticals. He also led LactoPharma, a biodiscovery venture aiming to create novel ingredients from milk. He is currently involved in advisory roles including guiding angel investors in California and is a Director of NZBIO.
