Kieran Elborough, General Manager of Science for Food Innovation, Plant & Food Research

Kieran Elborough is the General Manager of Science for the Food Innovation Portfolio at Plant & Food Research.  Kieran has experience in medical genetics, biotechnology and food flavours, and has a strong appreciation of how to link science and business to achieve commercial outcomes.  He has a BSc Hons (Dundee) in microbiology, a DPhil (Imperial) in cancer biology and has lectured at the University of Durham in biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology before coming to New Zealand in 2000.  Kieran was Chief Scientist for forage and rumen at Fonterra’s subsidiary ViaLactia Biosciences Ltd for six years, before joining HortResearch’s Business Development group.  He is also a director/authority member of ERMA NZ.
